Starting 2013 with a bang!

Happy New Year everyone!!

We celebrated NYE with some close friends for a simple game night, nothing to crazy but loaded with laughs and some yummy recipes!

...Sorry we didn't happen to take any pictures at this get together...
...OR during our "adventures" from earlier in the evening...

I am so proud of my husband and I! We have both resolved to be less stressed (me more than him) and I think we are handling hiccups with a smile & a laugh now - and typically a high five & smooch after success. or failure

After studying all day my car wouldn't start. Thankfully Ian came to the rescue to jump my car. [here is where I mention we have never done this completely independently] with a little encouragement & guidance from my wonderful brother we were up and running! Fingers crossed I haven't had any problems since! YAYY!!! Crisis averted. But then as we were on the interstate leaving to travel to our NYE party Ian's car got a flat. So, onto adventure #2 - we changed the tire ourselves, in the freezing cold, on an off ramp of the interstate. [we also have never done this before - and I might add I was a valuable asset.] The good news is that Ian got his car fixed, bad news is it was an extra unexpected expense. BOO! However we are fiscally responsible and it shouldn't set us back this month.

On the first day of the new year we decided to begin the process of organizing our storage room. Translation: Our basement is a disaster. We had a lot shoved into that tiny room. We want to de-clutter and get some serious organization done this year. We also outline some of our goals for home improvement during 2013 (in no particular order):

1. Organize "storage" room
2. revamp main upstairs bathroom = paint, change flooring, new toilet
3. update furniture
4. paint upstairs bedrooms
5. build HUGE desk in basement and get our "office" organized
6. change flooring in kitchen
7. repaint kitchen cabinets
8. hang engagement/wedding photography
9. do something about our ugly front door
10. BLOG about our ups and downs during these projects

This weekend we have a wedding of great friends - who we introduced! Yay us!! Linea actually introduced us so obviously we had to return the favor. We are THRILLED to be a part of their day! I love weddings and it will be great to get everyone together again on our old stomping grounds! So it will probably be pretty quiet on here until next week. [Although I am thinking about doing some fashion + beauty blogs about our attire, accessories & nails. wish me luck.] But don't worry there will be some new DIY projects from their wedding gifts!!
