DIY eye chart

I first got this idea from my ultra-crafty and creative mother in law. For Christmas? a year ago she may my younger sister-in-law an adorable eye chart inspired artwork piece that featured her birthday and birth place. there is totally no rhyme or reason to this project at all.

i have mentioned in other DIY posts that when possible I enjoy making gifts for my friends for their birthdays/wedding. I think it keeps it very personal. knowing my beautiful friend linea's contemporary/modern style I knew I wanted to make her an eye chart immediately after she first got engaged. it was incredibly simple!! all you need is a word processors and printer. oh and a frame & wrapping paper add nice touches too.

supplies:
word processor (I used Microsoft Word)
printer
frame
wrapping paper

1. Open word. I used Calibri font which I  felt matched the style of the couple and conveyed the eye chart appearance. The next part is completely unscientific.

2. Organize the words in sequence but keep things evenly spaced!! It takes a little while to figure out what you want each line to say. Because this was for a wedding I used the couples initials, last name, wedding date, address of the church and added in the tag line: wishing you years of love and happiness.

here is a screen shot.

3. Print (we actually printed two sizes and then went shopping for frames to decide which size we liked best)

4. Place into frame. [After searching and budgeting we opted for a store bought frame with double matting] - Changing the matting and frame are one way to add color to this classic design and for a wedding it would be easy to incorporate the couples wedding colors for added personalization. We kept in line with the very traditional eye chart look using simply black and white!

Here is the finished product!

to finish i wrapped this in burlap, tied it with white tulle & used a gold sharpie to address to the newlyweds! [it complimented the other gifts nicely]
here is a picture of the final wrapping
