alert: world's cutest puppy post

lola is a dream as far as puppies go. she has been so easy to manage and has very few negative behaviors. i think it is partially because of her small size and partially because of her breeding. she is very intelligent and catches on to new tricks quickly. we are even more in love now then when we first got her. she quickly became a part of our little family. i think sometimes it can be difficult to understand the love a person has for their pet until you yourself get a pet. i seriously miss her when we aren't with her. it's kind of crazy!

ALL ABOUT little miss lola

*her birthday is: 2/17/13 - so she is now 4.5 months old
*she is essentially potty trained - she has never peed in the house and has only had a few occasional poopies in the house. usually because we weren't patient enough with her while we were outside to potty. so we are incredibly pleased with her training!
*she can sleep through the whole night without being let out to go potty. [this is new just in the past week] so exciting!!
*she eats about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food per day. and is finally starting to eat without someone sitting by her. PROGRESS! whoot whoot! AND she is eating from her dog bowl instead of a plate.
*she is growing - she now weighs 2 pounds! and we can tell she has gotten a little bit bigger since we first held her.
*her favorite toys are her baby frog, miss piggy, her pink mouse cat toy, purple cow, 2 rubbery teething chew bones, and miniature chew bones that she can carry around with her.  [okay i just listed all of her toys]
*she loves to lay on blankets more than the hardwood/tile floors so we always try to leave a towel/blankey out for her - she has accumulated lots of "lola blankets"
*she loves to burrow. this is engrained in her genetics. this breed loves to burrow because they have very little body fat and it helps to keep them warm.
*she has the most energy in the mornings after waking up and in the evenings when we get her out of her crate.
*she loves her crate - b.t.w. she tolerates being in their all evening and throughout the day, except when ian comes home from lunch to play with her a bit. eventually she will transition into a doggy bed in our room at night time. but for now with potty training she is staying in her kennel.
*she is such a little cuddle bug! and she is still quite lazy!
*she has tons of new nicknames including: lola p, lola bean, lola bear, lolamon {yes in reference to pokemon}, critter, peanut, turkey, stinker-o-ski
*she loves car rides - i think it helps that when we picked her up we had to road trip a bit because it made her feel safe with us
*she is halfway through puppy classes right now at Pet Smart in Cedar Rapids and has done very well!
*she knows "sit" and "no" - we are working on walking with the leash. she likes to just cop a squat and stare instead of participating.
*she finally barked - although we aren't encouraging it. we have heard her bark 4 times but only at flynn family members, including collin, ian, evan, and kyle - which i think is pretty funny
*she has been socialized a lot which i think has helped her temperament. she has met a ton of people and other doggies! oh and a few kitties too. and she has gone on a few outings like the Cedar Rapids Farmer's Market. while it may have been slightly overwhelming she did incredibly well - especially with the little kiddos.
