Graduation Weekend! Whoot whoooooot! It's official!! - Part 2

Friday of graduation weekend I had to give my final presentation over a case report of a patient I worked with during my clinical internships. It was a great experience. Following this I sat through some wonderful presentations from my classmates.

We were free for a short window of time before graduation festivities. Laura, Linea and I traveled to Linea's parents home in Iowa City. We were accompanied by each of their wonderful fiances (Joey and Nick, respectively) and Linea's family. We ate a delicious lunch before we crowded the bathroom in an effort to "get ready" for our big debut as "Doctors" :) After putting on last minute lipstick I ran out the door to meet my family. They escorted me to downtown Iowa City where I was able to meet the love of my life on the opposite side of campus for a mini- photo shoot at the capitol building. Commencement began at MERF, an auditorium on the University of Iowa Medical Campus. We had a small, intimate ceremony with our class, faculty, family and friends.

We had a break between ceremonies and went to Stellas. A cute, small bar near an old apartment of mine to get drinks and appetizers. My husband gave a sweet toast to my accomplishments and lots of kisses and affection to mark my accomplishments.

Following this we headed to Carver Hawkeye Arena for the final ceremony where we were hooded by our Research Advisor alongside other Doctoral and Master candidates.

I would never have made it into the person I am today without all the constant love, support and encouragement from my family and friends!!!! It feels weird to be done with school and officially a Doctor of Physical Therapy! I have one more HUGE milestone I must accomplish - passing my licensure exam. Keep me in your thoughts and send lots of well wishes my way. My current full time job is to study for this exam so that I can get a license to practice PT! After this I will take the next big step as I become a part time therapist at Witwer Children's Therapy Center in Hiawatha. I am continuing to search for additional part time and PRN employment. I will let you all know how the search goes!
