gobble, gobble, gobble

I can't believe it is already Thanksgiving!!! This year we had so much to be thankful for. The continued health of our family, celebration of our marriage (almost one whole week!), the joining of two families, the support and encouragement from all our friends near and far, our work dedication and success, my upcoming graduation and being sheltered in our adorable little love nest

We spent the day with my family in North Liberty with all my favorites: baked ham, homemade stuffing, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole, fresh rolls. &of course warm apple pie and pumpkin pie. (We have been munching on left overs this afternoon - another thing to be thankful for!) Evan had a tonsillectomy on Tuesday and wasn't feeling quite like herself but joined us to snuggle up on the couch and watch some football. When we returned her home we were able to visit with [i]'s grandparents and family.

Our first holiday as Mr & Mrs!

! love me a couch full of Flynns!

Once we returned home we filled the house with Christmas music & good cheer. [i] made a quick trip to the store for eggnog supplies and I dug out decorations. We efficiently transformed our house for the holidays!!  It was pretty seamless actually and as we sat on our couch admiring our work it was hard to believe we were married in that exactly location just one week ago! Crazy how much I have fallen in love with this house. I never thought our starter home would hold so much sentimental value. We used the decorations we already owned but there are TONS of ideas on my wish list and to do list. We agreed to tackle the task through baby steps (but boy are we planning ahead for next year)! After we unpacked we had Evan, Kyle & Jim over for a drink as we reminisced on past memories and planned for future ones together. It was wonderful to spend time with the family but we all missed Collin!!

Unpacking my favorite boxes!

Putting on the topper - life goal: BIGGER tree for next year!

TaDa: Doesn't it look so cute and cozy?! I think so!!!

Grandpa & Sis gifted us with a fireplace insert - PERFECT timing for the holidays. I think we'll use all winter and then pull out some pretty candles for the spring and summer.

I adore this photo - the "fireplace" in the background and glow from the Christmas tree make me instantaneously smile from ear to ear!

View from the front window! I will take a better one once the snow falls  - I have a vision in my head that is beautiful!

We also found time to hang some wedding presents & threw a baby tree at the back entrance  :)

Hung up the new Iowa wedding day memorabilia.

Today we relaxed - nether of us were brave enough to venture out into the crazy world of Black Friday shopping. We made a quick trip to Michael's to get our wedding vows framed - should turn out awesome. We will post photos as soon as we get it in 2-3 weeks. :)
We also each took separate shopping trips. I ran to Lindale  Mall and grabbed lunch with my bestie McKenzie & [i] grabbed some fresh drinks from Benz Beverage Depot with Papa Flynn.  Once home together we snuggled up for a few episodes of Heros (we are seriously obsessed now) & FINALLY we checked our mail to receive a super-adorable card from my aunt Linda in California and a SURPRISE wedding gift from Linea & Nick. They got us a custom made marble statue carved into the shape of two snuggling birds. Seriously perfect and a great conversation piece to add to our home!

We had the most lovely Thanksgiving and hope you all had a safe and happy holiday as well.

Tomorrow we prepare for the big move as Ian's parents join us in Cedar Rapids! We cannot be more excited!! :) Updates to come later!
