DIY first dance lyrics - Wedding Tree Artwork

We are at that phase of our lives where a large majority of our good friends are getting married. Going to weddings is one of my favorite things ever - seriously - I LOVE them. Watching two people make a commitment forever and allowing you to share that with them is spectacular. But when I attend a wedding of a really good friend I do not want to just order them something from their registry. I want something that will help them remember this unique moment in their life. So for a close friends recent wedding I created something through trial and error based off an image i found that adored from etsy - but mine is much cuter. (i think).

here is a link to the original tree artwork for purchase on etsy.com
here are pictures of our gift to The Miner's - I apologize in advance that I didn't take any step by step pictures.

We wrapped the artwork with white tulle - very wedding-y but I didn't  get a picture of the complete finished product. We also got them a basket with a fun card, champagne, wine, a candle & personalized DIY wine glasses that say Mr/Mrs Miner with the wedding date below. (I made these similar to the way I created the groomsmen shot glasses with a sharpie paint pen and oven curing)

What you'll need to make the artwork:

-1 large picture frame (I got mine from Michael's)
-background paper that coordinates with frame and wedding theme
-card stock paper for the tree
-microsoft word
-scissors
-rubber cement

-optional: leaf stamp & leaf colored paper

how to:
-determine their first song selection
-organize the lyrics to the song into the approximate shape of the tree you want in word and print on a SAMPLE sheet of paper to determine appropriate sizing  - also if you want the heart shape add the couples initials and wedding date on the far corner of the same sheet of paper
-after proofing print on the card stock paper
-cut the paper out into the shape of the tree you would like - I modeled mine similar to the one on the etsy shop
-cut out their initials in the shape of a heart
-glue to trunk of tree
-cut out leaves using a small size stamp and leaf scrapbook paper
-let dry
-assemble
-wrap
-gift
-smile

Why I love this gift so much - It is very personal to the couple. It represents their first dance as husband and wife. ALSO it is completely customizable. I chose the color scheme and incorporated the leaves because they got married in October. All those elements were unique to their particular wedding. You can also change fonts, frame size or any other elements to match the feel of the intended recipients tastes.
